The Goodman GSX160421 Air Conditioner Condenser uses the chlorine-free refrigerant R-410A to help prevent damage to the Ozone Layer. This unit is equipped with sound-dampening features to provide operating sound levels are among the lowest in the heating and cooling industry.
The Goodman AVPTC49D14 Multi-Position, Variable-Speed Air Handler is suitable for use with refrigerant R-410A and is compatible with the ComfortNet Communicating System family of products.

The GSX160421 AC-only condenser is 3.5 tons, normally enough to cover up to a medium-sized house. Please note that in some cases, the system bundle pairs this unit with a larger tonnage coil to maintain the system’s efficiency.
16 SEER
The GSX160421 condenser is designed to be up to 16 SEER in ideal system configurations. Considered a high-efficiency, 16 SEER is around 12% more efficient than a 14 SEER system, saving you a lot of money in energy bills. 16 SEER efficiency ratings tend to be where cost meets efficiency, and is normally the best value for the efficiency.
The GSX160421 condenser comes with Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty with online registration through the manufacturer. An installation that follows your state and local codes is required for the warranty to be upheld.
The cabinet of Goodman’s condensers are manufactured out of heavy-gauge galvanized-steel with a baked-on painted finish that is approved for 500 hours of salt spray. The durable cabinet of the GSX160421 is also compliant with 2010 Florida building code integrity requirements for hurricane-strength weather.
For easier maintenance, Goodman designed the GSX160421’s cabinet with two maintenance access panels: one on the top and one on the side. For easier installation, the GSX160421 is made with easy-access gauge ports and service valves with sweat connections. 4 Tons
The AVPTC49D14 air handler is rated for an output of 4 tons. In many cases, this tonnage will be larger than the condenser it is paired with, which increases the overall efficiency of the unit. Please note that this air handler needs a condenser to heat or cool. For straight heating or when backup heat is necessary in a heat pump application, the air handler is able to accommodate heat strips, available at an additional cost to be field-installed.
Warranty
Goodman offers a 10 year parts warranty with online registration and when the unit is matched with a covered condenser. Please note that installation that follows your state and local codes is required, normally requiring an EPA-certified installer for most of the work.
The Goodman AVPTC49D14 comes with a factory-installed TXV kit, preventing the need to install one to increase the unit’s efficiency. The unit is also able to be installed in any orientation—upflow, downflow, or horizontal—which allows it to be extremely versatile in application.
