The Goodman® GSX16 UP TO 16 SEER Central Air Conditioner uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A and features energy efficiencies and operating sound levels that are among the best in the heating and air conditioning industry. R-410A is chlorine-free to help prevent damage to the ozone layer. The GSX16 features a high-efficiency Copeland® scroll compressor and is designed for the consumer who desires superior comfort, quiet operation, and environmentally friendly air conditioning performance.
In order to achieve the 16 SEER efficiency this central air conditioner must be installed with the manufacturer recommended evaporator coil, furnace, variable speed air handler, or variable speed modular blower and thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). A 16 SEER system will reduce your electric bill approximately 7% - 8% more than a 15 SEER system.
Please note that this air conditioning equipment comes pre-charged with R-410A liquid refrigerant and by Federal law cannot be released to the atmosphere. Yes, you can purchase this equipment without being EPA certified. And, if you are mechanically inclined you may perform about 90% of the equipment installation yourself. However, we strongly recommend to have a professional heating/cooling contractor do the final part of the installation including managing the refrigerant. An HVAC contractor has the tools and know-how to do this work.

Now fully compatible with the ComfortNet line of communicating equipment, these two-piece blowers increase both installation and application flexibility. Units can be matched with cased coils for upflow, downflow, and horizontal applications.

1.5 to 3 Tons
The Goodman MBVC1200AA-1 modular blower has an output that is rated to match up to a 1.5 to 3 ton system. Although not always the case, in order for a paired air conditioning or heat pump system to function at peak heating and cooling efficiency, ideal system configurations will have the coil within the range of this modular blower. Please note that in order for the modular blower to provide straight electric heating, a compatible electric heat kit is required, available to be field-installed at an additional cost.
Warranty
Goodman offers a 12 year parts warranty on their variable speed modular blowers when your installation that follows your state and local codes. Please note that in order for the warranty to be upheld, you must register the unit online through the manufacturer.
The Goodman MBVC1200AA-1 modular blower is designed to be flexible in installation application. With its small form factor and ability to work with a separate AC or heat pump coil, the unit is easily installable. For durability, there is foil-faced insulation inside the cabinet, and the outer casing is constructed from strong galvanized steel.
The Goodman MBVC1200AA-1 uses a variable speed ECM blower motor, providing precise adjustments to keep your home’s temperature as stable as possible. The unit is also compatible with ComfortNet communicating equipment, and with paired with it, temperature control, efficiency, and overall comfort are enhanced even further. The GSX160181 AC-only condenser is 1.5 tons, normally enough to cover up to a smaller house. Please note that in some cases, the system bundle pairs this unit with a larger tonnage coil to maintain the system’s efficiency.
16 SEER
The GSX160181 condenser is designed to be up to 16 SEER in ideal system configurations. Considered a high-efficiency, 16 SEER is around 12% more efficient than a 14 SEER system, saving you a lot of money in energy bills. 16 SEER efficiency ratings tend to be where cost meets efficiency, and is normally the best value for the efficiency.
The GSX160181 condenser comes with Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty with online registration through the manufacturer. An installation that follows your state and local codes is required for the warranty to be upheld.
The cabinet of Goodman’s condensers are manufactured out of heavy-gauge galvanized-steel with a baked-on painted finish that is approved for 500 hours of salt spray. The durable cabinet of the GSX160181 is also compliant with 2010 Florida building code integrity requirements for hurricane-strength weather.
For easier maintenance, Goodman designed the GSX160181’s cabinet with two maintenance access panels: one on the top and one on the side. For easier installation, the GSX160181 is made with easy-access gauge ports and service valves with sweat connections. Both of these lower installation and maintenance times and costs, keeping money in your pocket for the things you care about most.

1.5 to 2 Tons
The Goodman CAPF1824B6 evaporator coil is rated for a 1.5 to 2 ton output. In many system configurations, this coil may be larger in tonnage than its paired condenser. This is intentional, to maintain the overall efficiency of the entire system.Please note that in order for this coil to function, a furnace or blower and a condenser is required, all sold separately.
Warranty
The CAPF1824B6 coil is covered under Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty when the unit is installed following your state and local codes, the coil is paired with a compatible condenser, and the entire system is registered online through the manufacturer.
The Goodman CAPF1824B6 evaporator coil is able to be installed in upflow and downflow applications. With its rust-resistant, thermoplastic drain plan, water retention rate is significantly lower than previous models. For even more enhanced durability, the cabinet is made of a strong galvanized-steel with a leather-grain finish. If you ever need to perform maintenance on your coil, there is a split-seam on the front of the casing for easy internal access. Please note that this coil will not work as a replacement for any single-piece air handler coils.
The CAPF1824B6 evaporator coil’s foil-faced insulation lowers air leakage, increasing the amount of air flow going into your ductwork, keeping you more comfortable while decreasing the unit’s run time. With compatible equipment, the CAPF1824B6 evaporator coil lives up to Goodman’s enhanced comfort and efficiency standards at a reasonable price.
