The GMES800603BN Goodman gas furnace is 60,000 BTU’s. This BTU count is a measure of the input of the furnace per hour, while the output of this furnace is 48,000 BTU’s (60,000 X 80% AFUE) per hour. In ideal climate conditions, this 60,000 BTU furnace is usually used to heat a small house.

80% Efficiency Rating

The GMES800603BN Goodman gas furnace is 80% efficient, and the standard furnace efficiency on the market today. This means that 80% of the gas going into the furnace is used to heat your home and the remaining 20% is lost out of the flue venting. Please note that all 80% furnaces must be vented using metal flue venting, while anything higher than 90% efficient must be vented using plastic/pvc venting.

The GMES800603BN Goodman gas furnace is a single stage furnace has only one heat output. Regardless of the indoor temperature, this furnace will burn at 100% output whenever the thermostat calls for it. Like a light switch, this furnace’s burner will either be on or off and nothing in between. A single stage furnace is the standard efficient furnace since every time your furnace turns on the furnace uses the same amount of energy.

From the factory, the GMES800603BNruns on natural gas. However all Goodman gas furnaces can be converted to propane using the furnace’s corresponding LP conversion kit, an optional accessory at an additional cost that consists of a replacement set of orifices and springs.

3 Tons

The Goodman CAPF3636B6 evaporator coil is rated for a 3 ton output. In many system configurations, this coil may be larger in tonnage than its paired condenser. This is intentional, to maintain the overall efficiency of the entire system.
Please note that in order for this coil to function, a furnace or blower and a condenser is required, all sold separately.

Warranty

The CAPF3636B6 coil is covered under Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty when the unit is installed following your state and local codes, the coil is paired with a compatible condenser, and the entire system is registered online through the manufacturer.

The Goodman CAPF3636B6 evaporator coil is able to be installed in upflow and downflow applications. With its rust-resistant, thermoplastic drain plan, water retention rate is significantly lower than previous models. For even more enhanced durability, the cabinet is made of a strong galvanized-steel with a leather-grain finish. If you ever need to perform maintenance on your coil, there is a split-seam on the front of the casing for easy internal access.
Please note that this coil will not work as a replacement for any single-piece air handler coils.

Goodman 1.5 to 2.5 Ton Fixed TXV Kit - R-410A

Thermostatic Expansion Valves (TXVs) are:

• A requirement for 14 SEER or higher split system heat pumps
• A requirement for many condensers or heat pump systems that use the new R-410A refrigerant
• An optional upgrade for any other air conditioner or heat pump system

Your system will operate more precisely and with greater efficiency with a TXV. These valves offer more control over how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator coil. The valves only allow a precise amount of liquid into the evaporator coil to ensure that all liquid that enters fully evaporates. This prevents too little liquid from entering the evaporator making the system run less efficiently. It also prevents too much liquid from entering the evaporator which can cause excess liquid in the suction line. Thermostatic Expansion Valves can be mounted in any position on the evaporator coil inlet and are reliable, efficient and virtually trouble-free. Select the TXV to correspond with the tonnage of your air conditioner or heat pump, as well as to match the type of refrigerant your systems uses, R-22 (standard) or R-410A (new alternative). 

When using a TXV, manufacturer's recommend also installing a hard-start capacitor in your heat pump or condenser. This capacitor gives an extra "jolt" of electricity upon startup to push the refrigerant against higher head pressures that are present with a TXV system. If a hard-start capacitor isn't installed, the equipment compressor may sometimes have difficulty starting.

1.5 ton

The GSX160181 AC-only condenser is 1.5 tons, normally enough to cover up to a smaller house. Please note that in some cases, the system bundle pairs this unit with a larger tonnage coil to maintain the system’s efficiency.

16 SEER

The GSX160181 condenser is designed to be up to 16 SEER in ideal system configurations. Considered a high-efficiency, 16 SEER is around 12% more efficient than a 14 SEER system, saving you a lot of money in energy bills. 16 SEER efficiency ratings tend to be where cost meets efficiency, and is normally the best value for the efficiency.
