PELLET GRILLS

Pellet grills are fueled with wood burning pellets. Wood burning pellets are leftover sawdust pellets that are compressed into roughly 1/4" x 1/2" pellets which are sold in bags and then poured into the grills storage container called the hopper. When the grill is turned on, an auger motor pulls the pellets into the grill cooking area where they are lit and produce temperatures low enough for smoking and on most grills, hot enough for searing a steak. Pellet grills give you the flavor of a charcoal grill without the hassle. Wood pellets cost about the same as a propane tank and last about as long per bag. Most pellet grills have a touch display where you can turn the unit on and off as well as adjust the temperature. Pellet grills are available in both freestanding models with a rolling cart as well as built in models for a BBQ island.
